Hi Lovelies. I’m back after a nice little break with the family. I am excited to get 2016 started with a whole new link-up, fun new posts, and so much more. While traveling coast to coast over the last few years, I was able to research and experience all the great events a family could attend. I thought, as we come into the last few days of 2015, why not share my top picks for family New Year’s Eve events? I have my top 6 from the East and the West Coast. Now 2 of these I did not attend the actual events, but they were definitely on my list. Although I never actually attend them, I have visited the locations. So, I am adding them because I definitely think they would be worth checking out.
New Year’s Eve Bash Sheraton Carlsbad
We will be attending this event for the first time this year. It is a sold out event for all ages with a buffet dinner and plenty to do. They offer two countdowns for the New Year; one at 9pm and the other at midnight. Great idea to allow everyone to join in the celebration. They have a Kids Party Zone with games and activities for all ages. Every year they have a different theme and I am so excited to give you the low down in a few days on our masquerade ball.
This is a great event and you can find the details of the whole thing on my blog post here. This is perfect for the younger kids. The events are earlier in the day with a LEGO brick drop at 6pm followed by fireworks. Your family can enjoy the whole park and the added Holiday Snow days and Winter nights with holiday performances and fun for the whole family.
Sea World San Diego
We attended the Sea World New Years when our little one was just a month old. She spent the day strapped to my chest, but it was still a lot of fun. During the holiday season, they have Wintery Wonderland with special holiday shows, including the Shamu Christmas Miracles that usually ends with a beautiful firework display. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find if the fireworks would be included this year, but it is still a fun event with lots to do. They have additional holiday attractions like musical performances and the christmas village. The best part about this event is the ticket special they run this time of year. Purchase your day pass and get a 2016 annual pass for free. Can’t beat that!
First Night Alexandria Virginia
We attended this event twice while living on the East Coast. It is a great time and starts early. You can get there at 2pm and start story times and cookie decorating. There are locations throughout downtown Alexandria, VA. They have a fun kids zone at the local school and a scavenger hunt. There are musical performances up and down King Street with a great way to end the night at the George Washington Masonic. You can find the schedule here. The night is finished off with fireworks on the Patomac river at midnight.
Walt Disney World
We have not attended Walt Disney World for New Year’s Eve, but I can only imagine the magic it holds. You can find a list of all the events you could attend at Walt Disney World right here. Enjoy dinner and fireworks or whatever your heart desires at Walt Disney World. The park is open until 2am so you have plenty time to enjoy your night.
Time Square, NYC
We all know time square in Manhattan. I have not attended the actual NYE event, but we did visit NYC from the 28th-31st a few years ago. It is definitely something I recommend for everyone to do once. Just be prepared, it is CROWDED all the time in Midtown during the holiday season. There is so much to do from ice skating to seeing the window displays at Saks 5th Ave. For NYE night you have the option to pick up tickets to hosted events at locations through out the city. You can find the list here. There are plenty of ways to enjoy NYE in the greatest city without standing in the middle of time square the whole night.
I will be updating this each year with new and fun ideas for your family New Years. So, always check back. I hope you all have a safe and fun New Year’s Eve. Cheers to 2016!
