Tips To Keep It Real In A Social Media World

Hi Lovelies.  A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of being invited by The MOMS to preview Keeping Up With The Joneses.  It was such a fun day, shared with an inspirational group of women.  The Mamarazzi event was hosted by The MOMS and Warriors In Pink.  The warriors in pink help women living and surviving cancer have more good days.  After a little red carpet action, snacks and drinks we got to get a sneak peek of the movie.

Tips to Keep It Real In A Social Media World

5 easy tips to keep it real in a social media world

It was a super cute movie, but I can’t help but think about the reality of the statement Keeping Up With The Joneses.  These days, it’s a reality that some of us hate to admit.  Am I right?  So, today let’s talk about 5 ways to not get caught up in Keeping Up With The Joneses.  These will ideas will help you keep it real in a social media world

Avoid Trolling Social Media

Keeping up with social media is one of the easiest ways to get yourself caught up in jealousy and competition.  Social media is a way for people to brag and make their life look perfect.  We all do it.  I’m not judging or pointing fingers, it’s just reality.  Make it easier on yourself by limiting time on social media.  If you are a blogger or in social media, always go to work with intention.  Don’t just scroll through over and over, driving yourself crazy.

Be Thankful

Always be thankful for what you have.  Be grateful for all the gifts God has given you.  There truly is so much to be thankful for.  Even in the worst of times,  there is a light that you can find.

You Are Responsible For Your Actions

Always remember, even if it feels as though someone is rubbing their lifestyle in your face, it’s your choice to allow it to bother you.  You can let it go, or let it change you.  It’s your call.  Take a deep breath, and realize that the only person you can control is yourself.

Break Down The Jealousy

If you just can’t let it go, think about what it is that you are trying to keep up with.  Is it money, their marriage or travel?  Think about what it is, set a goal and work towards achieving it.  If it’s money, set up a savings plan, find creative ways to save on every day items, or earn side money.  If it’s their marriage, read a book, connect with your partner, and schedule date nights.  There is always a way to better certain aspects of your life.  You just have to be willing to work for it.

Let It Go

Now that you have set your goals, and are working towards bettering your life, let go of the jealousy.  At some point you have to let it go.  If you hold onto the competitive nature and jealousy, the only person you are hurting is yourself. It’s not worth it. Life is too short, don’t let it pass you by while you worry about others.

Thank you to the Moms and the Warriors in Pink for a fun day and for inspiring me to write these tips to help you keep it real in a social media world.

Ahhh, envy 🙂 it’s so much easier said than done, isn’t it, trying not to let the lives of others dictate how you want your own life to be? Comparison is a particularly challenging beast and something I work on, on a daily basis. I’ve still a very long way to go but I’m getting there 🙂

Do come by my blog tomorrow for the weekly Friday Project Sister Act Link-Up? I’d love to see you there xoxo

Stunning architecture, lots of discussions about religion and the differences between them all. It was so much fun to talk, to share with the girls and I hope they have a new respect for cultural and religious differences. In the end we are all humans, living on this earth, to grow, learn and love.

Here is a little travel tip: One way that we save money on travel is easy breakfasts. We keep food in our hotel, fresh fruit and baked goods. We grab a coffee every once in awhile, but it’s always something like this. Quick, easy and affordable.
